Default Greenlight can't quote - mild modded P1

I requested a quote via their website last night. Bare in mind their website states they do not touch standard cars, they have to be special or modified.

Here is a small list of my minor mods:
18" dealer optional alloys, not aftermarket rims.
large AP front brakes,
aftermarket exhaust centre and BB,
tinted windows around the rear
few interior tweaks (gear **** etc).

Here is their response:
"Unfortunately the details entered into the system do not fit the required criteria for our specialist schemes.

However, if the vehicle is standard or only has a few minor modifications, we would recommend that you contact A Quote on 0800 298 2836 who should be able to provide a competitive quotation for you."

I don't understand, I thought they were a specialist??

Strange, I done the same on their web site and it all went through ok, mine has very minor mods centre and BB exhaust, came back with a fantastic price, now with them.

Maybe try calling them and speak to someone, then you'll know for sure.

Daz.

Thumbs up

If you're over 25 then call Gary Moulson at Keith Michael (Moley WRX on here) don't do their online application - make sure you get through to Gary

Cheaper than all the others - all mods covered on my heavily modded 440bhp P1 not garaged in an unsalubrious part of London = £660 admittedly I'm an old git at 45 with 9 years NCB

yeah, maybe it's a std response email. Ringing people up is definitely better than using the internet.

You might find the reason Greenlight wouldn't quote could be if you haven't owned the car for over 12 months.

Traditionally the 2 door Impreza's have had very poor claim stats. So much so that we (Keith Michaels) even stopped quoting on them for a large part of last year.

I'm sure Tony will be able to advise you more, but you'll find that without a minimum of 12 months ownership of that particular car you might struggle to get quotes from some companies.

I suppose this is why speaking to people is better. You are correct I have nearly had this car 12 months but I have been driving Impreza turbo's for nearly 5 years now which is something online quotes can't take into account.
I will wait until my renewal arrives and then I'll ring a few specialists.
Cheers

Greenlight refused to quote me, even though I was with them for 6 years previously with a 2.0 16v heavy modified Nova (which I thought was more of a risk!) and less experience of driving powerful cars. Strange really, I'm 35 now, no points, 10 yrs no claims but they wouldn't quote!

I spoke to Moley, £625 fully comp!

Hi Phil,

Sorry we were unable to assist you on this occasion.

I can clarify that we are able to cover extensively modified P1's, but without your express permission in relation to allowing me to elaborate as to the reasons for not being able to assist to meet data protection criteria I am unable to provide details.

If you're happy for me to do so either PM me or post within this thread to enable me to explain the factors surrounding being unable to assist.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi RJM25R,

Again, apologies we were unable to assist.

Your being with us for 6 years would be appreciated and taken into account in event of your switching from a 2.016v Nova to an Impreza.

Experience wise, some of our underwriters would take the 2.016v (154BHP) as valid experience providing it was current (ie. this was the last vehicle, there was no gap or interim non-performance car in between).

Quote wise, our Underwriters are allergic (based upon historic claims experience) to certain postcode area's and unfortunately Oldham is one of them, which is most likely why we were unable to assist - rather than being experience related as you had previously thought.

Glad Moley could help you.

Kind regards & many thanks for trying us.

Tony

Tony has cleared up why they couldn't quote for me. It had nothing to so with their automated response email regarding the level of mods. It seems they automatically add this to the end of their emails. I will try them next year.
