Default wrx and sti

I went to view a WRX on an 03 plate yesterday, but spotted a nice 02 bugeye sti that I really liked, I had a test drive in it and came away thinking I might of had it, but when I tried an online quote with privilege I was amazed at the difference, for me aged 39 a wrx comes out at £425 but changing car to sti it jumps to £740 is this amount of difference the norm, as I know its a better car but don't think its worth an extra £300 on insurance as only about 50hp up, I will shop around on monday but it looks like I will have to look for a wrx with prodrive pack, comments welcomed.

I recently went from a uk turbo to an sti, same year and both 5 doors, the sti costs me around £100 more BUT some insurance companies were asking upto £1000 more than that so i would shop around as much as pos.

Im with direct line btw always found them to be top notch
