Dusk till dawn theft cover
The day after recieving my insurance certificate from a new insurance company, I recieved a letter 'reminding' me that my car would not be covered for theft unless it is kept in a locked garage within a 1 mile radius of my home between dusk and dawn
When arranging the insurance I was asked where the car is kept overnight but there was no mention of this dusk till dawn condition until I recieved this letter that was dated the day after I paid for the insurance
This would mean that my car would not be covered for theft when it is on the drive in the evenings or should I say afternoons as todays sunset time was 3:48PM
Has anyone else heard of this condition or has had it added to their policy?

Just took out the policy with A-plan, there is a 14 day reflection period so I could cancel the insurance and pay an admin fee.
Never had this clause with Privilege so I'm not sure if it's just A-plan or if this was a common term with other insurers.
Looks as though I will have to start looking for quotes again

If your car will sometimes be left on the drive overnight suggest you ask A Plan to requote on this basis as this gives you more flexible cover than saying it will be in the garage every night without fail.Speaking generally the extra between kept on drive and in garage should be fairly low.

I've had it mentioned that the car must be kept in a garage as compared to on the drive before - when comparing the same car in a different post code area.

Dont worry mine is the same with A Plan, i checked and you can leave the car outside after dark as long as you dont intend to leave it overnight. So if you pop round corner to shops etc its covered. Also if i drive to local pub its covered as long as i intend to drive home which rules out drinking i gues

that sort of condition is very common with motorbikes, realy you cant blame them, if you want a cheeper quote because you stated you keep the car in the garage, then this sort of condition should be expected.
4pm tho is a pain in the ***, i bet you dont finish work till 5 ?

Cheers for the replies guys.
The car is parked in the garage everynight, it is not an attempt to get a lower quote I just could not see how overnight can be classed as starting at dusk
It is also slightly annoying that I recieved the letter 'reminding' me about this condition the day after I took the policy out when it had never been mentioned before.
Time for a phone call .. well tomorrow it will be
