Moving to the UK, have some Insurance Questions
I will be moving to the UK in February from the US. I'm selling my EVO here is it will cost $5000/yr to insure a LHD imported EVO. I'm looking to get a 99 or so WRX. Are the Wagon's cheaper to insure than a sedan. It works that way here.
Also, my wife told me that 1 in 3 cars in the UK have had their odometer modified. Is this true for UK spec cars?
Thanks

Wagon and saloon are same insurance groups. UK insurance will be expensive as I doubt many companies will honour your no claims bonus. I had an Evo a few years back and it certainly didn't cost me that to insure, more like $1500 at today's exchange rate.
WRX's from 99 are Japanese imports, the JDM cars are restricted to 112mph and are in km/h. We use miles over here so the speedo is changed and the de restriction taken off This is not required for UK spec cars. At that age the UK cars are termed Impreza Turbo, although there are some official UK limited editions (RB5, P1 etc)
Cars are much more expensive here, so be warned the second hand prices may give you a shock!!

I'm moving to the outskirts of London, going there for graduate school, wife will be working. I got my terminology wrong, I was looking for the 99ish UK turbo 2000. If I could get away with <$1500/year for insurance on an LHD EVO, I'd bring it.
