I could be very wrong, but i believe the insurance approved trackers start at well over £300

The only time i would fit tracker is if the insurance company INSISTED on it.
Fitting one just to save money is probably a false economy, although i understand why people fit them for peace of mind.

Was 11 month's in on my insurance - Company insisted on tracker.
Didn't want to lose a year's no claims and my ins co were pretty cheap anyway.
Difference between them and other companies was generally more than the cost of installation + subscription.

was on the phone today getting a renewal quote from A PLAN (fantastic quote btw)
and the chap sad, in all honesty trackers only viable on new cars worth 30grand+
and 99/100 trackers r registered with insurance companies
and id also look into your company that insisted on a tracker after 11month, which is wrong tbh if they were too insist it would b when u first got the policy

If however, the tracker insistence was as a result of a vehicle change within the policy term (ie. 11mths in) the underwriter would usually offer revised terms and re-rate/assess the policy for the new vehicle, this may include a security request, additional premium or enhanced excess etc.
As scoobie-shield correctly identified, they would be unable to retrospectively insist that you fit a security device mid-term if there had been no change in your circumstances since the start of the policy. Especially if this was not originally stipulated & declared to you at the outset.
Hope this helps
