Question Connundrum

I was after a quote today for a grey/jap import. Rang up an insurance company - no name/pack-drill.

I'm over 40, full clean driving licence, licence held for over 20 years, no accidents - 7yrs NCB on my Volvo - and live in a good postcode for crime.

Thing is, I was not prepared to transfer my NCB from my £25K XC70 to the scoob, which is going to be a second car and likely to do well under 5000 miles per year. Because I would not come with at least 1 year's NCB, then they were not able, or prepared, to offer me a quotation!!

Am I missing something here? I am a low-risk individual with a clean licence and a good driving record looking to insure a low value car which is going to spend most of its time in a garage and hardly be used!! Yet because I haven't got any NCB to put in with the policy - I can't get even a quote?

I would have thought that I would be an attractive proposition as a new policyholder!??

(OK - attractive not in physical sense!)

A lot of insurers will mirror your NCB if you have maximum on your first car.

Cool

Wow! I am glad some insurers look at things sensibly

Now where is my cheque book or should I just use loose change...
