My MY00 was a Dutch import and that made no difference at all. Although some companies wouldn't touch it (very few) most were fine. (even though I never got around to fitting the CAT 1 )
You should be fine, shop around, do the usual, confused.com is a nice place to start. If you find that you are hitting problems i.e. points, postcode or whatever, try calling some of the specialist inurance bods in the back of EVO magazine.

Or...
Log onto www.greenlightinsurance.com pop your details online & declare the vehicle as a parallel (dutch) import.
We've been covering Impreza's for over 8 years and are well used to this situation.
So.. if you get 5 mins, log on & give us a try
Kind regards
Tony
