Question Legal Cover - do you need it?

The insurance companies always seem to add in a premium for legal cover which with some of them you can opt not to take.

My question for those of you 'in the know' is - Do you really need this? What are the downsides/repercussions of not including it with your insurance?

Cheers

Den

So when the wife gets a quote & it then says;

What's still available? motor Legal Protection at £20.00 (optional)

Are they at it? or are they taking the £20.00 off to make the quote (obtained via Confused.com) more competitive?

Don't bother, its a waste of money. You will be be able to go to a solicitor directly who will be bale to offer you a now-win - no fee arrangement with no deductions from your compensation whatsoever. Why throw away £20 when you don't need to?

If it comes free then why not?

What about if you needed legal defence?

Say if someone was contesting fault in an accident or claiming compensation for injuries you knew they didn't get in the accident....

or would this be down to the insurance company as you are their customer/client?

Den

p.s. you wouldn't think I'd had car insurance for 25 years would you!!

That what your insurance is for. If you are lucky enough to get a legal policy that covers representation in criminal proceedings than snap it up. AA & RAC used to cover this but not for about 10 years now.
