Default Cancelling Insurance Help

Hi All

I am looking at changing my car and i have found cheap insurane quotes with other insurers than that i am with at the moment, there are still a number of months left on my current policy.

Does anyone know how much you will lose by cancelling your policy, i have paid mine fully for the year.

My insurer is Tesco.

Cheers
Rich

U need to the read the small print of ure terms and conditions. They may just charge give a pro-rata refund less an extra month.

No i havent claimed yet, i have found a saving of about 300 pounds which i guess tesco wont match to try and keep me as their customer.

I think they just charge a cancellation fee but does anyone know how much it is?

In what way?

I'd be interested to know as I'm in the process of changing to a company car and will shortly be cancelling with A-plan. I know that the insurance is paid for via Amber Credit and thus assume that it is in fact them that will screw you cos they are a finance company, but what are the terms?

Rich, tell them you have just bought a Ferrari 360 or something equally ridiculous. They most likely will refuse to insure it and thus they can't screw you over with additional charges if you then ask to cancel.

As per my question in the post above this probably wouldnt work with a plan as they probably would offer cover for me on a 360 in which case I'd be obliged to continue with them.

This only works if the insurer refuses to cover the new car.
