CONSULTANT WOULD BE THE WORST IF YOU WANT BUSINESS USE, COMPANY DIRECTOR AINT TOO BAD! LOCKSMITH AGAIN IF YOU NEED BUSINESS USE WOULD MEAN YOU MAY USE IT FOR WORK. ENGINEER IS THE BEST ONE TO GO WITH.

As with all insurance companies, their underwriters and actuaries will have a hard on for a certain "group" of people. The actuaries will provide artifically lower rates to those who in their interpretation of statistics represents less of a risk, thus it is very much subjective from insurer to insurer.

Have they ever asked for

A - the actual current mileage or

B - photographic proof of this

My experience has been they have never asked for either so how the heck do they know what mileage you are doing?

No mate, they never asked for any of this.

So which occupation do people think I'd have been better mentioning, Company Director or IT Consultant? (Its not a fiddle or anything, I come under both categories)

Remember years ago they used to have the following categories:
Manual - Supervisory, Manual - Non-supervisory, Skilled, Semi-skilled, public sector etc

The big lists of occupations we see these days are mainly an expansion to ensure Political Correctness. So that a customer doesnt think that declaring they are a manual unskilled worker is demeaning in a similar way to how failing an exam at school is now to be called "Deferred success"

As it is, you would be classed as white collar professional with either selection you mentioned.
