I finally went with NU Direct
#1
Just thought I'd let you know what happened with me, when trying to get new insurance for the wife's motor:
MY2000 4-dr Turbo
17" alloys, ScoobySport back-box (not yet, but getting it soon, hopefully)
5 years no claims, no accidents, no convictions
Renewal from Eagle Star: £767.79 (unprotected no claims)
However, Eagle Star would not allow ANY performance modifications, which is why I've had to wait 'till the policy ran out to get a new backbox.
Tesco.com: £875.70 (protected no claims)
But Tescos insist on a tracker being fitted.
Direct Line: £788.00 (unprotected)
£920.00 (protected)
But Direct Line ALSO insist on a tracker, although the muppet on the phone at first said they didn't (he thought when it said "Tracker - required" on his screen that it was a bug!
Schofield Insurance: £875.00 (unprotected)
£950.00 (protected)
(Bit disappointed by this, RUM*, if your reading this!)
NU Direct: £727.55 (unprotected)
£794.14 (protected)
Finally went with NU Direct because:
i) They seem to have a good rep. on this board.
ii) They were one of the cheapest
iii) They don't insist on having a tracker
iv) They allowed my modifications
Hope this is useful to somebody.
