Question

Insurance is up in a month so started hunting throught Privilige, Tesco's, Barclay etc....Cheapest I got was £1144 SDP to and from one place of work, full comp.....

Is this about right....

Car is a Y plated MY00 with only centrepipe+backbox and P1 wheel modifications

I'm 30, 3 years NCB, an SP50 2.5 years ago, 1 claim for malicious vandalism (£704, 1.5 years ago). Kept on my driveway, with Thatcham 1 and Navtrak. In an RG postcode.......

I used to own a TVR and the insurance was cheaper, just get the feeling I'm missing something or things have gone up alot??

Cheers

J

Hi,

I've managed £865 from RAC on mine. Four years NCB, no comment on claims (don't want to jinx), you know my mods + full business use.

I reckon that they just make it up when you ring

BTW: Does NAVTRAK count as a tracker device if the insurance requires it? Might sound silly but if the alarm isn't Cat1 doesn't matter how good it is they won't insure you.

Try your local National Farmers Union Mutual. Sounds weird, but they are the cheapest I can find. And you talk tho the same person each time and they know who you are.

Hi Laurence,

Have a Cat 1 which to the insurers is a must have. When speaking about Navtrak on top of this, I was told by Privilige it will give no extra discount unless the car is worth over £30K...

Also Tescos, who gave me the cheapest quote so far only accept Tracker and don't recognise Navtrak.......

Any other ideas out there..

Cheers

J

Hi, I received my renewal premium from Tesco today....£895. I thoght this was not that cheap so decided to ring a few more companies. I ended up getting a quote of £631 for exactly the same cover which I thought was fantastic. My details are as follows.

DBM MY00 (X)
26 years old
6 years NCD.
Tracker.
Protected no claims
£400 excess
Third party on any car.

This quote was from the AA. Before i started
haggling with them they quoted me £780 with an excess of £750. With a bit of effort I got them down too £631 with a £400 excess!!!.

Give them a ring and start haggling!!!!.

Rob.

I think the AA are brokers?

Always makes me wonder when you go to a broker, they quote, it's too high, and then they reduce the quote... surely the broker is there to get you the lowest quote straight away, otherwise it defeats the object of going though one.

I insured my 99 UK Turbo with 17" wheels and scoobysport exhaust with ATS insurance as in the tyre peoople.
I am 22 with 4yrs NCB and live in ME postcode, I pay £1187. Not many companies would even quote me at my age, most were averaging the £2000 mark. They were friendly and will also quote on tuning mods. One company called its 4 me insurance quoted me £10456, don't bother with them!!!!
Their number by the way is 08706000080.
Good luck, we all need it when this time of year comes round!!!!

Exclamation

I just got my Barclaycard statement through this morning

They are offering to beat any motor insurance renewal quote, guaranteed!!! Not sure if there is a catch but worth a look. You have to quote the reference: Purple

0870 900 0095

Good luck.

I tried out the Barclays one. They will give you a quote £1 cheaper than your current renewal, but don't guarantee to beat any other quotes you might get. Or at least that's what happened to me...

I have just renewed with Barclaycard because, as Bennetm has said, they promise to beat any quote. They beat my renewal from Privilege and reduced the excess from £450 to £100. They covered my mods which, give the car about 246BHP, courtesy car if mine needs repairing and were very helpful. I think they are underwritten by the same people as Privilege and Tesco's.
BTW, it was £40 cheaper to have my girlfriend included on my policy????

My quote was £939 for a 98MY parked on the road in Cheshire.
