Just thought I'd let you know about my recent search for a decent price on my renewal.

Car is 95 with prodrive wheels,magnex bb and seats from a later model.
I'm 27 with 2 fixed penalties for speeding and one none fault accident in the last five years.My partner is also on the policy,she is 26 with no claims or convictions.

After much ringing around to try and better my renewal of £899 from AXA the best quote and the only one under £1000 was from A-PLAN.
I was on the verge of taking this and decided to give the yellow pages one last go today.
The result is a price of £650 from Liverpool Victoria 0800 607 607.They said the fact the other half is a public sector employee got me a discount.So if your currantly looking to renew give them a try,and hopefully you can save yourself some money like me.

Sounds like a bargain !, I wouldn't take the AXA - Aplan one anyway, they are very unsympathetic towards modifications (if you are planning any). ie they will basically not let you have any at all, you will be advised to change to another insurer instead if you want to modify it.

If you are planning mods, I would get it in writing first from your insurer that they will allow mods (of course allowing for an increase in premium if you do).

I second the recommendation for Liverpool Victoria / Frizzell. My average quote for standard UK MY00 was £1000, Frizzell was £650. Just insured my Mk1 MR2 with them for £260, renewal from Privilege was £500...
