Scooby Mods - what's acceptable?
I've just been on the phone to my friendly insurance company, asking about
how much the premium will go up by if I put on an ITG panel filter and
something along the lines of a ScoobySport BB.....
They replied, "If the performance gains are about 5 bhp, then now charge."
(On go the clear sidelights and repeaters then!!!). Anything above the 5bhp,
I'm looking at roughly a 20% increase in premium.....D'Oh!
Now, my devious (desperate) mind is in overdrive. I want to upgrade the
performance, but not at the expense of an extra £160odd quid just on the
premium. I'd presume that the ins. company are basing the bhp on as factory
figures. What if my car isn't generating factory bhp? Can I use the mods to
increase the bhp up to factory figures?
Would the insurance company see this as fraud? If so, then of course, I
won't bother.
I'm probably clutching at straws, but better to ask than not......
