All Scooby Owners Under 25.. Please post in here!
Hi All,
If you are under 25 and have insurance on a scooby (in your own name).. can you please post the company you are with? And the price you pay?
I'm after a WRX STI .. Just a nightmare to get insurance for one!
I was initially told by one company that i could get insured on a Scooby Type R .. but then when i sold my current car.. they then turned round and said No!
I'm 22 with 5 yrs NCB!! Will be 23 beginning of next month!!
Cheers for your help!
Lee.

NCB won't mean a lot to be frank, not until it's about twice that. Your age, area and simply the insurance group of the car won't help. You'll pay lots with high excess and some companies are even refusing to insure older drivers with tons of no claims.
I paid £1400 when I was 25 with 4yrs NCB, but that was a few years ago before lots of the current insurers started getting hit hard with claims.

Try Bell Direct.
They have agreed to insure me on a Type R
It's described as a WRX Sti (import) 1998 2L, but they have agreed to put a note on the insurance to show that it is a 2dr
I havent got insurance yet....since I havent picked up the car yet.
I know that they have done this with other people too.
Oh, and you might want to wait until you turn 23....my quote went down by £250 after my birthday last month
I'm 23 now with 5 yrs NCB too....got a good price from them

24 - 7yrs NCB, Sti 5 Type R with tescos @ £950 ECUtek, exhaust and air filter declared - got the car when I was 22 - managed to get insured before they changed their policy on imports - will be 25 this year, so should hopefully be able to shop around a bit!

24 years old, 3 years no claims, no points (amazingly).
MY01 WRX Standard - £1300 with Tracker Required from Tesco's taken out at end of Jan.
Going to declare my exhaust system shortly - apparently going to add about £175 .
As a note, I've heard that Tesco's recently had to make a huge payout (millions) on an under 25 Impreza driver, so are no longer prepared to insure under 25's.

Hi 24 5 years bonus 94 wrx wagon Tesco did policy for approx 800 but I was already with them on a n S2000 but I work for a broker and although they wont touch scoobys Tesco are cheap for us younguns try and get a UK car they dont seem to have any problem with those just anything from the land of the rising sun but tracker is required unless you want to have no theft cover but they only require a cat 2 immob but if your brave I would be tempted to just have a decent cat1 and dont worry about theft cover and if it does go missing hope its burnt out as they dont exclude fire or accidental damage oh and a hugh excess.

tried Tesco just out or interest and they just quoted me £1257 for a 12 month policy so they are on par with elephant there by the looks of thigs, once you exclude the price of the tracker

Im 21 with 3 years NCB and a 3 month ban on my licence.
And it cost me £150 to change my insurace (From 23rd August to 13th October) to my Scooby from my Ibiza Cupra (1.8 20v Turbo) and my insurace company said that when i re-new my insurance i would be looking at about £1500 - £1800, and thats with Highway, but through Quota.
