Default 'A Plan' to the rescue (bye bye L&V)

Well, ive just received my renewal from L&V, last year i paid £595, this years quote £813.

Ive just phoned them, to ask why such an increase..??

their response - we've reclassified them cars.

So, thanks to the posts on here, i phoned Rob at A'Plan .....and guess what. They quoted £585.

Which is excellent news, cos in my mind, if i had to pay over a 10% rise then the car was up for sale.

car is my93wrx, with decat...and im erm 4-0.

Frank

So, for anybody with L&V - Be prepared

i just phoned L&V, to see if they wanted to price match, before i cancelled - their response, sorry we couldnt get near that now.

So, A'Plan it is .... Thanks to Rob, i get to keep my car.

Frank I'm glad your not selling your Subaru-it would be a shame. I too am going with A-Plan ( from £1250 with Tesco to £939 ). Rob also said my premium would only go up by £50 when I have my Blitz boost controller fitted.

Cheers Paul.

P.S. Frank have you changed your mobile number-I texted you the other day and had no reply.

Another vote for A-Plan. Rob was a joy to deal with. Very helpful and you could talk to him knowning he actully understood what you where talking about. My renewal from L&V was down to £770 from £930... A-Plan came in at £720. MY99 UK Turbo.

this is only helpfull to a degree though.
If you have a heavily modified car, a rake of points on your license of various classifications, any sort of claim and an existing L&V policy then there isnt any choice is there?

A Plan called me back today as I asked for a call back to get insurance on a 172, told them my best quote and they didn't even tell me what it said on their screen just that it was nowhere near as good

Reading between the lines, A-Plan seem to come up with a way of making us Impreza owners happy...sorry, its not been as successful with the non-scoob.

I think theyve noticed a business opportunity from L&V trying to rape us all..

I can also confirm that Liv Vic are absolutely crap at dealing with a claim!!!
My scooby got stolen, recovered (written off) 3 days later and it took them just over FIVE MONTHS to sort it out!
This is the worst experience i have ver had with any nsurance company.

There's lots more to it but the highlights include sitting in a queue for over an hour while being passed to 6 different people and then eventually got to speak to someone who could deal with it only to be told "i'm just gonna put you on hold while i bring up your details".
10 seconds of music and then a dead phone!
They hung up on me and didn't even bother to ring me back!

It took 2 major official complaints before the manager "took over" and things started getting done!

AVOID!!!!!

Another vote for A-Plan here.

I'm 27, 4 years NCB, unmodified MY99 UK Impreza Turbo 2000 with Tracker Monitor doing 6000 miles per year in London. Last year's cheapest was with Direct Line at £1200. Was looking for protected NCB this year - Direct Line were £1050, Privelege were £950, Greenlight were £850 and A-Plan £820.

Thanks for the heads up guys!

Well, I had a claim off LV when I span my evo and mullered the bumper and intercooler, they were very helpful, car went to my choice of repairer and was fixed within a few weeks, top company IMHO.

Its a first!!!!!!!!!
Cheaper insurance than last year.
Last year £1022 for WR1
Renewal with D Line came in at £983 (is it because I have turned 35 years old since last premium?)

Phoned A-Plan who got it for me at £890.Result.
a-plan @ Beaconsfield with Chris being the man.

I then took out house insurance as well which was cheaper than my renewal quote.
Double result!!!!

My renewal from LV was actually cheaper than last year (from £780 last year to £722) but I called Rob anyway and he quoted me £639.

Happy with that.

Default A-Plan

Just rang Darren at A-Plan. Got a quote of £689 (with £500 excess).

Im 24 with a W-Reg UK Turbo (standard) with tracker and 5yrs NCB.

Currently with Tesco for £950.

Cant believe it!!

BUT, just before I jump, Has anyone out there had any dealings in relation to making claims with A-Plan? The quote is brilliant but if I actually need to make a claim (god forbid!) how easy will it be? Im just a bit wary of small insurance brokers.

I don't think they are small business insurance brokers.

They only really deal with plans in high insurance group cars. They couldnt give me a good quote for my 05 plate mini.

This is why they are giving out such good prices.
