NCD - To protect or not to protect?

NCD - To protect or not to protect?
It's time for the great insurance hunt again, but as I have now built up the princely total of 5 years no claims on my policy, I'm being asked if I want to protect my NCD. The question is, is it worth it? It seems to be in the region of £20 to £25 difference in the premium. Any ideas please?
Many thanks

Can only quote from my own recent experience. I have it on my policy.
Last Sept gave my scoob a smack in a car park on the drivers door & rear door bad enough to knock the B-post and need to make a claim.
Was expecting it to go up a fair bit this year and it was pretty much the same as last years. So on that basis it could be worthwile

The amount they charge does vary disproportionality. They (directline) want £55 or so on my 2.0 Sport, and about £100 if quoted on a UK spec turbo. Yet it was only about £120 more to insure a turbo than my sport

I'm going to pay it ....
Whoops - I forgot to mention that it's for insuring the Micra not the scoob (not that we have a scoob at the moment, but that's a different story ....). I'm being quoted £190 without Protected NCD and £200 with, both prices including hire car which I'm going to knock off now the new scoob is on order so we'll be back to being a two car household again! I think I'll pay the extra £10 for peace of mind.
Thanks for all your input though.
