Angry how can postcode be so influential

ok .so i live in liverpool so would expect a higher level of insurance than other parts of the country.

but

i have just moved house - 3 miles to be exact. changed from one liverpool postcode to another. similar area types re: housing, crime rates etc.

insurance gone up by 600 quid. otha major companies quoting within 20-30 quid so not worth changin.

i'm 34yr old nhs professional with full no claims, 17 year old clean licence

stand and deliver (or as we say in the trade - bend over, COUGH!!!)

cheers

colin

Dicky Ticker
have you moved from a close or cul de sac to a road?
This can have an effect. A road will have more people passing by and sometimes a higher crime rate, accidental knocks etc. Where as a close will not have the same amount of people passing by and the only visitors are coming to see people in the close.
Also less people passing by on way back from pubs fancying a joy ride!!!

Well the housing estate is brand new(private) i dont know if that has much to do with it, maybe the address has no outstanding crime and this may be the reason although i would of thought that they would just score off surrounding areas that being my old address, all one big con if you ask me, jeff

if anything the car is now safer.

now parked on a drive so no "accidental" claims.

im at the end of a no through road so no passing traffic

no next to any wasteland so no convenient access / escape routes.

i have to have a tracker fitted which is another 100 quid a year just to satisfy the insurance.

its all a con.

glad ive got 70 % no claims discount otherwise my insurance would be 6 grand a year.

cheers

If its a new area there wont be any stats etc for your postcode so maybe theyve based it on a higher risk (to cover themselves) and this might correct itself next year when you come to renew. £600 is a big step up though
