Default 24 year old female help needed !!

Now that i have your attention with my title i'll get to the problem !!

I have a MY99 Uk turbo for sale at present

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=393787

I have a 24 year old gril from glasgow who is looking to buy it. Price has been agreed and the only stumbling block is insurance. She is looking to insure the car using her mum as the main driver, with 4 years no claims.

Tesco have apparently quoted £650ish, but a tracker is needed.

Other companies such as Elephant are apparently quoting about £900ish.

Im basically looking to find out which insurance companies are best for this type of Impreza driver ?

and

What is the cheapest tracker system on the market which will be approved by Tesco insurance ?

Thanks in advance

Stevie

Hmmm, Elephant don't ask for a Tracker do they... or at least they didn't for my MY00 which I recently insured. If a typical Tracker unit costs 300 notes to fit, wouldn't it be cheaper to simply insure with Elephant..?

Also, see what happens if she includes yet another female on the policy. It might drive it down a bit more.

I applied for a quote on-line with Tesco's just before New Year, for my UK MY00 Turbo, and it wouldn't let me finish until I selected a tracking device of some kind. Perhaps it's a different story if you call them instead(?)

Have they tried Diamond, and other insurers that cater for women's drivers?

My insurance is due in 6 weeks. Every quote I got said a tracker must be fitted. This includes Tesco (I have a UK car).
Tried so far: LloydsTSB, Tesco, Direct Line and Privilege who have been the cheapest.

I am currently insured with Elephant who did not care if I had a tracker. I changed cars half way through the year, but I don't expect them to want more security on renewal.

Anyway, if the girl is buying the car to drive but putting the mum as the main driver, then isn't that twisting the insurance in an illegal way? Not your problem I know.

Thanks for your help so far.

In my experience with tesco they have always wanted me to have a tracker (even on a uk car). Im currently insured with Elephant, without a tracker, and have never been asked for one to be fitted.

I've recently started looking for quotes for myself as i might still have the car when its due for renewal in Feb. The best quote so far is Bell direct through Confused.com. No mention of a tracker, thanfully.

That said im well aware that the market for female drivers will be different. Have any female Impreza turbo drivers ever insured their car with company like Diamond? Do they do such high risk cars?

Lastly, what is the cheapest tracker that anyone has had fitted to keep tesco happy ?

Thanks

Stevie

I haven't used Diamond as they were never the cheapest.

I have also had a good quote with Liverpool Victoria, who did not ask for a tracker.

Silly Girl!! That's gonna bite her in the a$$ when she wants to be the main driver! Anyway, I guess you only want to sell the car! So, has she tried Admiral; they should provide a competitive quote without requiring a tracker!

Best with the sale.

Think I paid about £450 for a tracker monitor for tescos then its £90 per year, this was a couple of years ago.

*could have been £350, memory isnt what it used to be*

Try Admirial as they were the cheapest quote I found last year. Plus they don't need a tracker and IIRC are advertising competitive quotes for young drivers.

I am a 40 year old OldBint and am finding it very difficult to get a quote without a tracker... insurance is getting so stupid now, it's almost as though they are expecting you to pay into a trust fund and only take out what you put in. The risk factor has gone out of the window!

This is from Norwich Unions terms and conditions....

No driver has had more than 1 loss or claim in the last 4 years
What's the point in having insurance if you can't claim because you will then be rendered uninsurable. The whole british insurance scam stinks if you ask me.

Can you tell Im upset. I have been driving 15 years, have only one sp30 and 3 claims in total - one of which was malicious damage. It just seems so unfair

Admiral = Bell Direct = Elephant, they are all Admiral, just with different front ends. Strangely you do get quoted different prices depending on which one you speak to. None of them require a tracker. Liverpool and Victoria don't require a tracker either, but they seem to be going off Scoobies for new policies and won't deal with younger drivers (under 25 on UK under 30 on imports)

I'm 24 and just had a quote for nearly a grand from Tesco for my 99 JDM Type R!! Ridiculous seeing as I paid about 600 last year for my 95 JDM WRX! You'd think Tesco would appreciate a stronger (less likely to break) engine and a better security system!

Where you live makes a massive difference too. I decided i now 'live' at my brothers house in Arlesey just North of London - price droped by about 30% compared to my 'previous' address of quite a nice part of South London / Kent.
