Question Cancel, then re-instate?

I'm with Tesco. Policy is due to renew on 20th Feb. I have one more payment to make on 20th Jan. I already had full no claims when I took this policy out, but it is not protected on this policy.

I'm going to take my car into Europe in 2 weeks. So I'm worried if I spank my car, I will loose my full no claims.

SO, here's my idea...

Cancel my insurance, Then take out another year's policy adding in protected no claims.

What do you reckon? Or just leave it?

Do you loose all your no claims if you claim, or only 1/2/3 years?

If your that desperate to protect your NCD, cancel your policy just before you go and take out a new policy. Granted you will lose the remaining cover but this is a small loss
anyway. As you have the maximum NCD you won't lose out on the current year your in the middle of earning now.
