Default Now 25, who still deals with 25+ and not 30+

Finally i've turned 25 and the insurance is due soon but I notice recently a few people saying that the cheaper insurers are now saying 30+

Its a td05'd uk classic with the usual mods (wheels, exhaust etc) and around 300hp and i'm constantly having arguments with Tescos (current insurer) over % power increases etc. any advice?

I think I paid £1400 when I bought the policy and have paid about £400 over the year to top it up with individual mods as i've done them but they've said my renewal will be near £2k which sounds daft as i've now passed the 25 yr threshold so i'm on a mission as we all are now!

The last conversation I had with Tescos was about changing the turbo, apparently there isnt anything on thier system for CHANGING a turbo but there is one for ADDING a turbo, so you're charged a massive premium as if you're turboing up a NA car and it doesnt take into account the fact you're base premium for that car already includes a turbo.

Had the same thing with spoilers and wheels (I mention aftermarket alloys and you're paying from scratch even though the car CAME with alloys and they see it as if you're putting something on the car it never had), i better stop before I get carried away and this ends up at 10,000 words!

I know it's illegal but how would an insurer know if you had a different size turbo on??

I'm with Elephant. I drive an MY03 STi.

I'm 26, 1yr NCB, 6pts (SP30 + SP60), 2 accidents (12/2001 + 06/2002)

I'm paying £1200. To add on a full exhaust system and manifold would be an additional £80 for the year.

i to noticed that a lot of people were saying 30+ for insurance, specialy on the imports
when i got my car i was 24 and 25 in a few months, when i hit 25 it came down quite a bit, but loads of people still wouldnt cover me

i dont think i will have my car by the time im 30 lol
