No claim discount protection?

No claim discount protection?
Just had my renewal through from Tesco
2003 WRX 4dr
28 years old
8 years NCD
1 Fault claim
1 SP30 3 points £60 find
DY postcode
Fully comp £979.65 XS £250
Tried the usual and none could get close. They want £139.65 for no claims protection is it really worth it?

Pointless.
Unless I am very wrong they reduce you NCB by 2 years for claims (even write offs I think) and that would take you to 6 years - which is still more than the max most companies have of 5.
Even if you have NCBprotection you are still regarded as having an accident, fault or not. My brother works in car insurance so he deals with it all the time (works for a BIG insurance group).
Have you done any mods to the car - if so Tesco are hopeless for it!
