Angry tesco ??? W**K**S

I got quoted about 2 months ago buy Tosco on my present car a bmw 318ti ltd edition with the plan to sell that and get a WRX MY01, Tosco quoted me £890 on the bmw and £1545 on wrx, I was pleased with this quote as I am 22yrs old with 2 yrs no claims, so I purchased the bmw policy and to the change it over to wrx but now the bmw is almost sold I got a recent quote but Tosco will not insure me on the wrx ??? why ? The vehicle detail have not changed. Anybody understand this ??? Or does anybody recommend somebody else I have tried a few more with elephant the best so far at £2185 but if Tosco could offer me £1545 somebody else should, I would have thought? HELP PLEASE

You aint the only one matey. Tesco quoted me on my 93WRX and a week or so later i bought the car and they said they wouldnt quote. As a result my scoob is now for sale as i cant get a decent quote anywhere else as i relied upon the Tesco quotation which was reasonable. I spoke to the manager on the phone and all they said was that the underwriting changes day by day. I have never been so p#ssed off in all my life. Im looking into the matter to possibly take further action. THESE PEOPLE CANT GO ON GIVING QUOTES AND THEN BACKING OUT WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT!

if you do a quote online you save it? surely they would have to insure you if you can prove you had a quote from them?

same here, luckily i am insured with Nowrich Union but as you can imagine it aint cheap for a 21 year old

I rang Tesco and asked them and they said for the new financial year they had regrouped there vehicles and the Impreza has been made untouchable by anyone born after 1979

Im 23 with 3 years NCB.

I got a online quote for a RB5 for £1200 with £350 excess
phoned them up got quote for £1500 with £500 excess. Now I dont know what do. I really want this RB5 but im worried Tesco might do the same with me, then I'll be stuck with a un-insured scooby.
Was also planning to tell them about the uprated brakes a few days later.
Any ideas?

Ray Li - as far as brakes are concerned they aren't interested. I told Tesco about having uprated discs and they said it won't up the premium. If you get a quote online it will be cheaper than if you ring up.

If you are buying the RB5 get the insurance sorted now and set the start date 30 days from now. At least then you have some time to sort out buying the car and if it has to sit on your drive for a week or two at least you get enough time to clean it

Wonder what it will do when mine comes up for renewal in june, I've just turned 22 with a '96 wrx and no one came close to tesco last year and could only get insured by one other company I ttired no one else would accept imports under 25.

I have until tomorrow to give a reply on the car. Will try some more insurance companies tonight. If it all goes poo poo i'll do that you said. buy online the tell them about the brakes if not sell them.

im 24 now with full no claims on a standard uk turbo, last year i paid £1300 with protected no claims, this year a new quote has put me on £1000 with protected no claims, both from tesco.

the lady on the phone told me my renewal price would be more than if i went for a new quote with them, although getting a new quote would mean a bigger first month payment as before..

Ive been with Tesco for 3 years. I am 23, 4years NCB and 3 points. Had 3 cars with them now, a Fiat Brava 1.4 (was around £1000FC), an MGZR105 (£900 first year then £740 also both FC) and now, as of last week, are insuring me for just over £1200FC on a 04 WRX. never had a problem changing my car with them, i just ring them and tell them what i am getting and they amend the policy.

Angry lucky i have a uk scoob

Guys, i have spoken to direct line and tesco and they have changed their policy cover now and will not insure under 25's on imports!!! It seems this is the way they are all going now and the woman on the phone then said that if you already have a policy with them and are say 23, when your renewal comes they wont cover you anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
