Question Renewal notice advice please

I have just received my new quote for my99 turbo wagon from tesco. Tracker fitted 33yrs old max no claims with NCD protection and legal protection for £452 which I think is as good as I will get.
The down side when looking at the policy is that I have a voluntary £400 excess with a compulasary £250 excess So I must pay the first £650 of any claim which I think is a bit steep, I am going to phone them to see the cost increase by decreasing my voluntary excess. What do you guys pay and what is your excesses, is it worth having higher excess to reduce the policy or should you pay more a year and less excess????? Any comments welcome.

Mine is £150 and £200 which is £350 total. I am only 25 and have an MY96 sti, although you can add £700 to your premium to get mine per year!

I have a 350 XS on my new policy. I could have reduced this to £150 if I wanted, but it would have added nearly £200 to my policy.

I figure that I'd be better having a chance of paying out the extra £200 in the event of a claim than definitely paying out an extra £200 now! Of course this assumes that there is not more than one claim in a year.

You could go into great lengths doing statistical modelling on this sort of thing, but I can't face it - that's why I pay the insurance company

Talking I am thick as mince!!

Just phoned Tesco and they informed me I have £250 compulsary xs and £150 voluntary xs so only £400, to do away with the £150 vol xs adds £60 a year so hardly worth it!!!
Don't think I will get a better deal so I aint going to shop around and will stay with Tesco for another year

Cool

have you tried tesco? They wanted over £1000 without a tracker but dropped too £500 last year with tracker fitted, couldnt believe it when it dropped this year to £450 shop around you may get it cheaper or it could be because your misses is less than 30, trade her in for an older model thats my advice

When I first got insurance on a 309 GTI 10 years ago it was £350 with 250xs or £440 with 150xs. I took the chance and went for the £350 quote, it was onlt £10 difference and thats if I made a claim.

Now with 10 years NCB my excess on the scoob is at its max - £500 I think, the money I've saved over the years through reduced premiums is 5 times that.

Food for thought.
