Our son has just passed his test. He has a 10 year old 998cc Micra, registered in his name, and the quotes we've been getting for 3rd party are amazing!!
Does anyone know of ways of getting him insured, reasonably?
Both our cars are insured with L V and having him as a named driver on a Honda Jazz is cheap, but since he isn't married he can't have his car on the same policy. My husband doesn't want him to be constantly driving his car!!
Any help/suggestions would be welcome.

We recently had the same problem. Went with CIS in the end and insured the car as any driver, however the car is registered in my wifes name, with my son down as a driver under 25.

This still costs £900 per year for a 1.1 pug 106.

Have you tried confused.com on the internet, they halfed our insurance for the scooby.

When ringing around ask the comapny doing the quote, what difference a pass plus will make. Some companies will give upto 30% discount for this.

Try the following in no particular order :-

LV
Norwich Union Direct*
Endsleigh
CIS*
Tesco*
Elephant
Direct Line/Privilege*

The asterisked ones give passplus discounts.Don't expect to pay less than 4 figures.Include at least one parent on the policy as this normally keeps the price down.Best of luck.
