Default I need help with L&V

I have just got off the phone to Liverpool Victoria after trying to get a quote on a JDM STI version 9.

The lady told me that they didn't have this particular model listed so were unable to give me a quote?

When i explained i knew a number of people insured with them on a similar spec car she said that the law changed this year - it now states the car must be a perfect match to ones listed - not just similair.

Is this true etc

Any help would really be appreciated as i was hoping to pick the car up soon,

Cheers

They cant insure it coz they cant find version nine......

Just call it a STi 03 or 04 for whichever year it is and say its a jap import.

There is big confusion around the STi7 / 8 / 9 / 10 thing. Dont use that and say the Model Year, that should help mate.

Ask to speak to her Supervisor. Say it's a Japanese import and the Model/Year.

Or ask her to list what they have on the screen and see if yours is matched.

Pippyrips,

I have a MY03 JDM WRX STi and got a quote on the telephone from them and when the car arrived I rang up again to confirm. I wanted to double check it was the JDM spec. This person I spoke to this time could not find it on their system and so would not insure it.

So even if you do get cover I would be very careful before paying for it as they don't seem to have a clue.

I ended up getting insurance with Schofield Insurance.

Damian.

Like i say they struggle with the STi9 bit ..... just let them know its a MY03 and tell them its a Jap car, that should sort it.

Hi,

Best thing to do is when asked what the car is advise that it is a Subaru Impreza STI....they should then ask you what year it is...and you can then advise the year etc....you should also mention that it is a Jap Import vehicle...

Insurance systems generally don't include MY01, 02, 03 type istings.....equally they don't normally include models like STI9, 8, 7 or 6....these tend to be used by us on the forums etc...

I believe that as far as numbering goes they stopped at STI6 ...

Three is no reason why they won't cover you on that basis

Hope this helps....and I guess just reiterating what has already been stated....

Tom

this has been covered numerous times, not sure if this is my car you are talking about, however its already insured with l and v. I had the same problem when i first bought it as it says above, I got a quote, then i went and bought the car, then I rang again to be told they wouldnt insure it as it wasnt on the list.

Anyway I proceeded to speak to someone with a little more intelligence than the monkeys who answer the phone, I can find her name and im sure she will remember, I also helped out someone else on the forum before they got the insurance with them once I had told them how to sort it out.

Once you get through to motoring services, you can explain the situation and they told me that they will insure the car, give me the quote to the nearest vehicle to it on teh list, and then I got all the paperwork saying they are aware of my situation and they will still covery my car full comp as i have on my policy.

So end of argument, I have a jdm sti 9/ my03 jdm sti and it is insured with l and v!!

Jan this year
Well it was a continuation of my old cars policy really but they had no problems covering me, they just said they didnt have it on the books, covered it as a standard JDM STi but went back to the underwriters with all the info on the car, no probs

Music to my ears Gary!

Pippy, I think you might find that L&V won't insure you on an import unless you're over 30.
