Question Tesco

Hi Guys

I am insured with Tesco on my 95 WRX and wondered if they accept any modifications, i.e. exhaust and induction kit? If they do, does anyone know how much extra they charge?

Tescos are good on unmodified cars, start to modify and you will be charged serious ammounts of cash that you dont really want to part with for virtually 0 bhp increases

I was quoted £565 standard WRX with Tesco, with exhaust & alloys & tracker £812!!! f.f.s. ,mental. I then get a quote from Norwich Union ,same mods for £626 without Tracker.

Blimy, what a difference! I'm only 20 though, so Tesco were the only people to insure me. I might have to have a good ring around when i'm 21. Hopefully that should make a difference!

Once you've done a quote with them on a standard car, ask them what difference the mods your looking at adding to your car will make.

I sold my scooby because of the stupid amounts added by tesco. I had a backbox and 17"alloys as my only mods and they wanted £510 extra, £1100 standard and £1610 modded,RIDICULOUS. Also i was told to read my excesses in more detail and noticed that along with my comp excess of £250,there was a voluntary one of £150 and then also a young driver one of £250. Total excesses were thus £650!!!!!!!!!! Although they do give great quotes to younger drivers and are sometimes the only ones who will insure us,tescos aint all they are cracked up to be!

I'm in the same position only being twenty, they wanted an extra £1200 for a set of 18's, a performance exhaust and filter (to fair though no one else would insure me). Decided to stick to a standard Scooby untill i'm 21 then try again with just an exhaust to see how much that goes up.

Damn it i want to hear the Scooby rumble.....

I'm with Tesco and am pretty sureI have the young driver excess and I took out my policy when I was 24. 25 now and renewal soon so should have come off now/or when I renew.

Oh well not to worry! They were the only ones who'd insure me for less than 2500!

I rang Tesco last night to see if having the 03 WRX spring kit fitted would affect my premium. I was told it wouldn't. Anyone know if wheel upgrades do?

If anyone’s interested

Just called Tesco to enquire how much the 03 WRX PPP would increase my premium. They wanted to know what the PPP was (told them replacement intercooler hose, back box and EMS). They also wanted to know how much the back box would increase the power by, and how much the EMS (or as they call it "chipping") would increase the power. I told then 16% (???? maths not a strong point) for both. On those details my premium would increase by approx £250 per year. My current premium for a Std 03 WRX is £660 (full no claims, age 36).
