Angry L & V - what a load of rubbish!!!!!!!!

I'm currently with direct line as L & V would insure me on a WRX until i was 30. As i will be 30 soon and going to be changing my car i thought i would see how much they would be.

My details:- 30 years old, 8 years NCD, No convictions, No claims, postcode B32.

Tesco
UK STI 2004 model - £1360
UK WRX 2004 model - £886

L&V
Jap STI 2004 model - "sorry we don't have this on our list"
UK STI 2004 & 2003 model - "sorry we don't have this on our list"
UK WRX 2004 model - £1380

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought they were supposed to be cheap and know what they are doing!! What a load of toss!!

I have been told by someone in the trade that the reason they offer such good deals, particularly on modified cars, is they are actually not a motor insurance company, rather a company who does other types of insurance, but dabbles in motor insurance. he reckons they don't really know what they are doing, and thus offer such good deals. Good for the consumer though, as regardless of how they come up with the price, as long as its low its good.

I'm not happy with them though, as they hiked my insurance up £100 on renewal, despite the fact i'm up to 7yrs NCB, and have no additional points/accidents. Found it £200 cheaper elsewhere so have cancelled.

Try A-Plan insurance. They got me a really good deal for my JDM WRX (93) by halving the other quotes i'd had!

I think that you may not know this but the underwriters for L&V happen to be Fizzell's, and honestly they dont know anything about motor insurance
Ive got a JDM STi MY03 insured with these people, they undercut the likes of Tescos, DirectLine (and other associated companies) by over 400 quid, they did need to get back to me as to take my car to the underwriters as it wasnt on their books but apart from that, ive had no problems

Tony

PS, if you want the best service from L&V, speak to the women there

You have to ask them to go back to the underwriters, they dont officially have a 4 door JDM STi on the books (mine is a Spec C) but if you describe the car they will get it sorted for you (just say its similar to a UK STi in shape but with a little more performance )
