Question

I am (finally), able to opt out of my company car scheme and buy myself a UK wagon...problem is for the last four years I have had a company car so I have no NCB even though I have been involved in no accidents\claims. Does anybody know if there are any insurance companies out there that will accept letters from employers confirming no claims have been made against you? Any info would be gratefully appreciated!

Thumbs up

I got no years but 65% discount through Tesco the first year after leaving my company scheme - the discount was confirmed via a letter from my companies car insurer (Zurich).

The following year my renewal had a 65% discount as a five years NCD on the schedule.

Norwich union will convert the company claim free years into NCD, on production of a letter from your employers. Other companies will give you the percentage discount but not the years. Try to find a company that will convert it, as next year you will be able to use it with all companies.

Direct Line also give "years" as well as percentage. With an empoyer's letter confirming 4 years of claims free driving, you shouldn't have any problems getting 65% NCB from any insurer.
