Question

Just visited the L&V website to get a quote as I'd heard that they were ok with mods. However, their preamble says "no performance enhancing modifications" which goes against what policyholders with mods have told me! What's the deal here?

the 'deal' is as those with mods have told you - just ring them up and ask.
Planning to fit a new exhaust I rang Churchill (my current insurers) who said it was okay because I was buying it to replace a rotting standard exhaust but it wasn't okay to do it 'for performance'. I'm fitting a H&S decat centre pipe and a Ninja bb...
I rang direct line who were £100 cheaper (with a tracker) but wanted £120 extra for exhaust.
L&V were courteous and professional (see some other threads), £160 cheaper and would allow any mods short of engine work. Guess who I went with?

Thumbs up

I've just cancelled my insurance with Priviledge and started a new policy with LV as they informed me that they didn't mind what mods I had done, just had to give them a list of the mods (quite handy when you have, for example, an engine producing 55% more than when it came out of the factory!).

L&V laid off their technical under writing team so they don’t actually understand what mods are/do. So you could declare a turnip with a dump valve and they'd say OK.

Believe me I have this info from a very reliable source
