When you have points added to your licence they are printed onto the rear portion.
If you have an accident your insurance company asks you to photocopy your licence and so can see any endorsements.

So why does an insurance company ask if you have had any points in the last 5 years ?
If you have sent away your licence at 4 years can they still find out if you have points ?

If they are suspicious or you don't send in licence etc., I'm sure they can contact the relevant authorities(police/courts database etc.) to find out.

Question

Insurers look at previous convictions (within the last 5 years) when deciding what kind of a risk you pose to them. Its one of the things that determines your overall premium.

Why would you not want to tell them about any convictions you may have ? After all they do have ways and means of checking - So it is best to be honest.

non-disclosure could invalidate your insurance, as you are misleading your insurer when taking out your cover - why bother ?
