it says so at the beginning of their quote process.

But I'm sure I've read here that they don't charge extra for it...

I'm confused...

PS: Why does the "BBS Code Syntax" link never work?

There is some confusion about this !!
I phoned them twice yesterday and was told two different things
1. "we are not bothered about modifications - just take photos to
prove you have them and keep reciepts". "Yes - but I was thinking more about performance increasing modifications". "We don't take
those into account"
2. "We aren't bothered about modifications unless it's like a 'chip' or 'alloys'"

I have still taken an insurance out with them, but intend to put in writing my modifications...

If you read past posts there is a LOT about this!!!

Oh, there you go - as the man says - I can have:
- alloys as long as their within an inch of the standard size
- s/s exhaust + filter
- in fact, anything less than a different engine seems not to be a mod in their eyes!

And they quoted £834 for 29 yrs old, 4 yrs protected NCB, 1 non-fault accident, no convictions...

I thought this was the case, but when I told them about my P1 wheels, S/S exhaust, STI5 spoiler they increased my premium. Whatever you change on your car I would advise you to tell them.

I've just spoken to them as i'm getting this little baby on Monday and they apparently already covered for the current owner who declared all mods...anyway they couldn't find the car even with his postcode and Reg/Name but told me not to worry as Mods were covered...they recommended I take photos to prove what I have in case of theft.

Not a bad price approx £750 for a 29 yr old full no claims and no points.

Well, I've insured with them but over the phone, I was told twice by two different people that they do cover mods. anything as long as there is NO Change to the engine cc, they said i could incease performance, fit wheels, exhaust, filters, chips etc and it was all cover but because they don't list them they said i should take pictures and keep receipts.Speeding convictions ok as long as not a ban. All accidents declared .Full protected no claims two drives, cat 1 , on drive £700 f/comp not bad.
OH and by the way it's a WAGON uk

Yep they'll cover whatever mod you pretty much want - minimal loading - about £100 for all of them

and they'll cover the mods in a crash - but not a total loss claim - when they will only pay market value plus a small premium for say £20k of mods!!

They have told me as long as you have the reciept and a photograph on the car, they will pay out the full costs of the modification in the event of a claim.

James.

Cool

I'm insured with L&V but did it over the phone, I was told i could change anything, as long as there is NO great increase in BHP, they said i could fit wheels, exhaust, filters, and it was all covered as long as i had pictures and receipts to prove.
Didn't even need CAT 1 or TRACKER but i have both.

35 yrs old, 8 years no claims, protected two drivers, £502 f/comp. happy days...........

Well, I'm now covered by LV...

They said it was only displacement increases they cared about, so downpipes, exhausts, filters and other exciting whatnots are on the cards now.

Free Trackday cover, protected NCB, and legal cover, too.

I can confirm that they do insure wagon's. Just took my policy out with them, far the cheapest i found. £680 £400 excess wrx 03 my with PPP fitted 32years with 11 years no claims although only discount me on 9 years as this is max with L/V. No requirement for tracker or need to be garaged, must add that no additional reduction in premium if garaged or tracker fitted. Swansea poscode also.

Talking

I've been with them for a year now and I've added mods to my car with absolutely NO increases in price ( full SS exhaust, front spoiler, different wheels,Eibachs) they just send me a new certificate each time! I've got 4 now! As I'm having a CTR and the wifes just got an SP30, they STILL haven't increased it?!

how do you guys get your insurance so cheap, i called up LV and they said it will be £1400, and as said earlier, get proof of the mods fitted to the car, i.e certificate for the PPP.

Uk 99 turbo

Im 27, 6 yrs NCB protected, no points, no claims & car has a Cat1 and is garaged overnight.

Does this seem too high ?

PPP,
it's probably due to your AGE
when i took my insurance out with them, they said they took all
factors in to account. I'm 53 but my
insurance cost £375 ( the only time age has a benefit!!)

Got a quote tonight,
MY00 with 17" and SS BB, £665 a saving of £135, not bad me thinks

They clearly stated they were not bothered about the mods, however they were also not bothered about the barrier deadlock. Some you win some you loose.

Used this thread to help me decide...

44 years old
Max NCD
1 SP30 this year
MY02 with PPP
RAC Trackstar (fitted a few days ago)
HU12 (fairly cheap) postcode

Renewal with Churchills £900.32, didn't have a clue what PPP was and I found out that they already thought I had a tracker fitted because the "Thatcham Cat 1" box on my computer details was ticked!

Tesco £884.10 after loads of time listening to Dean Martin crooning whilst she got direction from the underwriting department- £700 compulsory excess!!!

Direct Line £882.49 (I already insure my old "L" reg Cav with them for thruppence) Added 30 quid to the quote for the SP30 and said the PPP had added £150 to the quote.

Coffee Break.... thinking about buying a Fiesta 1.1 and spending the money saved on a massive sound system, neon underbody lights and a "Paul 'n Karen" sticker for the windscreen. (and a peaked cap each, worn backwards)

Rang L & V - £643.64. Includes Legal, NCD protection, hire car and £400 excess. Stopped me dead when I mentioned the PPP and said as long as I did not remove the engine from the car "everything" was covered! Not interested in the SP30 because I had already said I had never been banned!

Go figure!! Taken the policy, will confirm exactly what I have by letter, and what's the next performance step up from the PPP!

I'm waiting for my quote to arrive in the post, I'm hoping it will detail the mods anyway, I gonna feel uneasy if it doesn't.

Cool

I took our L&V insurance earlier in the week (moved from Elephant) and she clearly said the they were not interested in the modifications (when I memtioned PPP etc) and that I should keep photo's and receipts and they will pay-out based on everything.

I think most insurance companies record and keep all telephone calls so its there should it be needed at some point.

Great price, well chuffed.
