LV won't price match

Got a good quote from them but our existing insurer matched their policy benefits and conditions, and was cheaper.
Rang LV back and expected to talk about what they'd do with the premium, but both the missus and I got told separately that it's company policy not to price match.
So they lost over a grand in premium for the sake of £30, which seems a bit odd to me. Anyone else had this?
