I've currently got an Alfa GTV V6 2002 (well you have to own one at some point don't you), but I'm looking at a 22b. Phoned L+V and was told that because the 22b is older I'd get a rebate of £40 Mad or what...Not that I'm complaining.

I'm 33, full ncd, protected, garaged, good postcode = Alfa is £650 with £350 excess.

Edit to say that Alfa is group 19, 22b is a group 20.

DaveW.

Just got renewal notice from Privilege.

MY03 WRX with PPP, 25,000 miles/year, 36 year old, North east, 6 years NCD - £1350!!!

Phoned Liverpool Victoria - £830!!!

Said any mod was fine providing you have proof/receipt, etc in event of claim - didn't ask about mileage, security, etc. Bizarre!!! But seem to be spoken highly of on here!

...and just phoned Adrian Flux who said they're coming up against very stiff competition with Liv Vic on Impreza's and can't get anywhere near their quotes.

Ian

Ian...I'm in the same position. STi8PPP has just put my insurance with Privilege up to £160 a month, so I'm expecting the renewal due next month to be in the region of £1700 -£2000 - (35 years old, clean licence, 25000+ miles a year, 6 years protected NCD, although one small claim for minor damage last Nov, high risk job and car parked on the street)

Liverpool Victoria have quoted me £1066...no interest in PPP, security, mileage, high risk job or the fact she is parked on the street.

I'm a firm believer in "there's no such thing as a free lunch", but this is as close as it gets as far as I can see. Will only really know when I get the renewal quote...fingers crossed.

Perhaps they have realised that the more drivers they attract, the more competitive they can be

I was surprized as well, they were not bothered with tracker, alarm mods etc ? good quote too, slighty higher than Tett Hamilton but no alarm/tracker. Must be a catch somewhere.

LV don't have an army of underwriters checking all the minor details like mods. Saves them a fortune when only insuring over 30's. That's where they make their savings.

my renewal with subaru direct was £1650, lv wanted £750 back in march, just moved to a different postcode and had a cheque back today for £84, that means my years policy would have been £600-650
for a sti 7 ppp with 6 points and a claim

Get's even better. Girlfriend wants to go on insurance but she had a her-fault accident last year resulting in 3 points and completely writing off car. Was expecting the to want another £150-£200.

£40!!!

I think the over 30's rule has only just come about, along with the don't care about mileage, mods, track days, alarms, where parked, accidents, convictions, etc ...

Just moved to LV ,the premium was very low.
They only seem to inisist you are over 30, and have not been banned for anything other than speeding.
That's it, they don't seem to ask for specifics on speeding convictions, garaging, security etc.
The only mods that require notification are ones which increase engine CAPACITY, not power. You just need to have proof of mods being fitted to car in case of theft.
Either they are mad, and it can't last OR it proves that other companies have been taking the **** in a big way.

Thumbs up

In case any of you are wondering about catches .... I can vouch for L & V. I've had my MY95 WRX insured with them for 3 1/2 years now. Last September, some T*sser in a lorry reversed into the car (parked up at the time with me not in it), then proceeded to drive off.

I called the police, the driver was stopped etc., etc. Rang L & V that afternoon with police report no., the next morning at 8.30am, my local L & V repairer called me. Came out that day to see the car, ordered the parts, picked my car up and left me a loan car and it was all done within a week.

I had to pay the £350 excess but this was returned to me within a fortnight as L & V had been chasing up the lorry's insurer constantly.

The service was untouchable.

Jo,

Thats good to know - you're always worried when things seem too good to be true - but your experience and that of others seems to prove that LV really is escellent value for money.

Why is that? Do they have to make £10 mill this year or something?

Why can one firm do a decent price and one not?
