Anyone aged under 25 manged to get insurance this year
I have only managed to get quotes from Egg and Tesco
Simb 2 - you have a good list, but I have wasted so much time phoning companies on it only to be told they will not insure:-
1997 Classic
6 years NCB
Driver age 23
Tracker Monitor
Cheshire area
Can anyone offer any help, or is Tesco the best bet

Tesco's were my best bet when I was under 25, however you may want to try Adrian Flux, Greenlight (if they cover your area, they only seem to do the moon these days), Norwich union Through a Broker or Schofields who specialise in scoobs.
Good luck

Jen, I was in a similar position as you a couple of months ago:
23, MY97, 6yrs NCB, Tracker, Hants area.
I wasted ages phoning around various companies but as only two were competitive:- Tesco & Privilege. If you can find anywhere that can beat these two then I would be extremely surprised!
Tesco was slightly cheaper but the excess was higher and Privilege cover me to drive other cars. With the mods I've got (exhaust, induction, morettes, spoilers) it was somewhere under £1100 but I've just been on tesco.com and I can insure a standard WRX STI V5 Type-R for just slightly more so I know what my next car is going to be (25 next year so should be able to get it under a grand by then )!

Tesco and Direct line were the only ones for me (i think they use the same underwriter so one beats the other about £20 - sometimes its a bit more)

Simb,
Just got the results from the web link you gave me 8 quotes and the cheapest is £2,412. I was going to give up and go with Tesco, but after reading Jamie's post I think I will give Priviledge another ring - last week they said they would not insure that age for that car.

BTW, Privilege + Direct Line + Royal Bank of Scotland are one and the same AFAIK...

Found another web site to do quotes
http://www.insuresupermarket.com/
Tesco came out tops again. The question now is do I protect the NCB? about £170 extra - is it worth it?

man I'm having this problem. I'm 22, 3yrs NCD, MY98 UK Turbo. Spent large portions of friday ringing around and getting told "no-way, you are under 25". Did my head in. Looks like I might be sticking with Direct Line again.

I am gettin a scooby very shortly, and the only thing holding me back was insurance. everywhere was quoted me £2000+, but then i visited tescos site, and they quoted £950 fully comp!
I am 21 with 4 yrs no claims btw.

< 23 years old, my99 uk turbo, 1100 with tescos fully comp + protected no claims discount, just watch out for their phone techniques, just be aware that even if your car is uk spec ie dutch import, its still an import and cannot be insured over the internet with tescos, you will have to phone it through.
its still a lot cheaper than a jap import but you lost the 5% discount they offer you online - be warned.
also the cheeky git wanted to give me £750 excess, in the same voice as the lil doggy in the churchil adds, Oh no no no no no, 3 seconds later excess was £400
