Insurance on the Isle of Man
#1
Well I tried all off the suggested companies (well almost all of them) and only 2 companies could go under 1,400. The 2 being Privelege and Barclays and they were still a fair bit more than other peoples quotes on here.
Nevermind, at least my car is out here with me now

Hi JC,
Theres Kestrel in Onchan that do a "Manxman" policy, but if its for a Scoob, and particulary if its an Import, then dont bother...
I tried ringing round a couple of years ago, for my old 94WRX but as soon as you say 'import' they dont want to know!
May be worth a try though...

Jenny don’t bother with iom companies.
You get better cover from UK for cheaper as we are a safe bet.
I use Admiral very good price.
My Corolla Levin GT Apex, last car, was not recorded on any records.
They ended up ringing Japan to get an insurance class, all sorted within a day.
Not many companies would do that.
Most large UK companies know your car is not going to get stolen over here.
David.

Hi Dave,
Just noticed you mentioned Admiral there. I had a lot of trouble getting insurance for mine. Still didnt get sorted to my satisfaction really.
Could you give me a mail mate, and tell me how much you pay? (thats if you dont mind of course!) Mail address in my profile.
Also, do they have the right model (eg STi Type R for yours) on their lists?
Thats something else I was finding, the Sti RAs werent on their lists!!
Cheers

Thanks for the tips, I will have a ring round to see if I can get a cheaper quote, which shouldn’t be hard considering what i a paying at the moment. I will let you know what the best quotes are and who by.
As for Admiral, I had a problem with them last year in that they wont insure me . I will probably try them again, being a year older and a year wiser they might insure me!.
Cheers,
Jen

Hi Custom,
I think there are about 4 or 5 of us 'Islanders' on Scoobynet, and I'd be willing to bet that I'm the only 'proper' Manxie too!
RBS cheap for insurance?
I didnt even know they did insurance!
And what do you call cheap? (mail me at mail in profile if you dont want to publish what you're paying...)
What sorta Scoob you got as well?
Cheers

Anyone got any suggestions for a 450bhp+ 2.33 litre type R insured on the island? Everywhere I go don't like the idea of it having a boared and stroked engine together with lots of mods and refuse to insure it.
Regards
Andrew

Have you tried Adrian Flux
They cover most mods including nitrous, so they should cover your mods. As for price I don’t know.
I noticed you threw a rod 9 month ago; this wasn’t at Jurby on a track day by chance?
If it was I was the one with the white Type R.
Also off topic if you’re interested all the lads are meeting at the Manor Williston at 8 tonight to organise this year big Scooby meet from the UK, we need as much input/ideas as we can get.

Yeah that's me from Jurby track day - nearly 13 months ago. I see your car driving up Finch Road in the mornings - looking & sounding nice! What exhaust have you got on that now because I'm looking for a 3 inch straight through system from turbo back.
So far Admiral - £631 if standard. Too many mods to insure.
Adrian Flux only have one insurer to try and he estimated £3k once I listed the brief spec.
The problem is the engine work - bolt ons seem to be relatively easy to insure.
I have an ace card up my sleeve though!!
Kind regards
Andrew

That price from Admiral is good; I use them but pay a little more.
Bet Sarah wished she never bought that track day for you now?
Can some one not class it as a 22b? It’s only missing the arches.
At least the engine size would be right. he he
The exhaust is a blitz nur spec, very good quality 3" from downpipe on and with bung to keep it fairly quiet, when you want to.
This means you haven’t heard it with the bung out!!
