Can anyone recommend a decent insurance company ? I'm 26, nil no-claims cos I've been on my dad's policy for past 3 years, clean licence. MY 93 WRX with cat 1 alarm/immobiliser and cat 2 immobiliser, garaged overnight. Adrian Flux, Privilege etc want 3000 pounds ++++ Tesco's want 1488 but are insisting on a tracker which I cannot stretch to. Any ideas ???

Bite the bullet m8, don't think your going to get a lower price than that who do not require a tracker IMHO. Your looking at £250 for the tracker inc fitting and another £100 subscription.

Question

the tracker is the best option to go with as its good piece of mind too.
just out of interest, why didn't you look at getting insurance that you could afford before buying the car???

"why didn't you check insurance before buying the car?" a good question !! I had actually obtained a quote from I+D in Perth for 1240 fully comp, no tracker, but then a few weeks later have decided they won't insure imports anymore !!! Would have thought the cat 1,cat 2 and disklock would be enough !!!! Glad I'm not trying to insure a Sti Type R or a P1 !!!!

Unhappy

you got done over in the same way as us then!
We nearly had to cancel our ITR import as we had obtained a good quote from Dorset Insurance. When we tried to turn quote into full policy they told us that they had quoted us for the wrong car, their mistake and wouldn't cover us for the correct model even though we had been 100% honest with them!!!
Tesco to the rescue though
