Did u try Norwich Union? Got a goodun of them for my Impreza.
£860, group 12, 0 no claims, good area etc.
Worth a shot. Try the online thingie - need the reg plate though.

Try Liverpool Victoria or HIC seem to do well on the Pug boards.
I pay 400 FC on my 1.9 with LV, 150 excess - however, I'm 27 and have 8 years protected no claims and 9 years driving experience 7 of which I spent in hot hatches/performance cars!

Could try Bell direct, they gave me a good quote when I had my ole Honda Prelude and my current Renault 16V. Both are high group cars and they were reasonable for me
