LV track day cover Part II - you aint covered people!
#1
Just got a renewal quote off LV for £663 me 33 93 WRX very modded.
I asked about this track day cover malarkey and the very nice lady said that although track days were covered in theory she advised me that the underwriter would be unlikely to pay out because of the greater risk to the car.
I think that kind of means Im not insured for track days then. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. She also had to tell me she'd made a note of the conversation so now I guess Im down in the book of potentially speedy drivers. Hope this doesnt prejudice me in the future!!!!!!!!

That's the impression I was left with when I spoke to them a couple of weeks ago. They would use the "Duty of care" clause to null my insurance for a track day incident. It would be so much easier if they just said no or even better if they said yes. I would be very suprised if any insurance company covered track days other than specialists like Competition Car Insurance.

I can only speak from what ive beeen told by them. They said that track days wouldnt invalidate my policy ie. they wouldnt cancel it if they found out thats what Id been up to, but they wouldnt pay out for the car if it was crashed during one because of the greater risk involved than driving on the road. They were very definate about this last point and have made a note of such on my records.
I wouldnt normally expect to have any sort of cover when playing on a track, but it does seem in this case they are sending different messages to different people. I'd check that your bit of paper is valid and by all means quote my experience before venturing out onto a track thinking that theyll pay out in the event of an accident. Better to find they wont before you go rather than when the marshals are sweeping bits of your car off the track!
Let us know what they say, it will be interesting (and yet more confusing) if they maintain you are covered for track use!

Cool!
I guess its down to an individual basis then. Why theyd cover one of us and not the other is beyond me though. Couls you do me a favour and let me know who it is you speak to? Email me offline if youd prefer.
My thanks
Andy S.
