I have just received my new renewal quote for the year and I think my scooby is going.
I am with Norwich Union and last year I was paying £1100 with all
mods declared, this year it is £1600.
How can they justify this increase ?
Anyone know any cheaper companies out there ?, but I thought Norwich Union were good with scoobys.

Any replys will be appreciated.

Don't let it get you down. My first year of ownership cost me 650 quid in insurance from Hill House Hammond, underwritten by Axa. A year later, with an extra year's no claims bonus, no accidents, claims or convictions, the renewal came through at 1203 quid.

My, how I laughed. Actually, I shat myself first and thought "the car's got to go", but then I started phoning around.

Cheapest? Axa Direct! I tried them last, as I thought there would be no point as they underwrote the original policy... 750 quid in the end...

So, don't despair, and enjoy the conversation with your current insurers when you phone them and ask them to move on price because you can get it for hundreds of pounds cheaper

Give Tom (Rum* on here) at schofields a call. he might be able to help.
number is: 0113 250 0377

I'm with him, and have been for a few years now. first quote was 1000, then next year was 1400 now it's 937! which is not bad considering it's a jap import, and somewhat modified and all mods are declared.

Direct Line not bad or Footman James 0121 5616250. Only reason I didn't go with latter is because my other half is a named driver and he's 24 (young driver, so they load the insurance!)and they couldn't beat Direct Line's quote. Good luck and don't panic! You will end up keeping the car no matter what it costs!!

Cool

Liverpool, Victoria, and Frizzell.
Get mine for £590, and they weren't interested in the mods!

You just have to find a specialist insurer who thinks of the Scooby as a lesser risk when coupled with the driver. In the present climate the Scooby is coming in for a lot of attention because of the perception of always being stolen and driven hard then crashed. Please note I say perception.

It is unfare that some careful drivers get penalised for this

I found Greenlight understood the mods plus gave good quotes to drivers who where less of a risk.

Green light were excellent for me, and they also understood the mods unlike most of the others.

Sti7 c/w Full decat, Magnex freeflow zorst, Dawes, Eibach Suspensio, uprated rear anti roll bar (Litchfield performance package).
I'm 39, full n/c discount, £800 ish p/a.

its strange that insurance companies give you a low quote for the first year, just to get your custom, then renewal time up goes the premium and they expect you to stay with them.

Red face

Footman James have just quoted me £1185, more than Admiral for renewal! This is for a MY95, value c6k! Tesco want a tracking device fitted. They're all taking the mickey apart from LV, top trumps at £673. They could end up with a lot of business!
