I just turned 23 when I got my Impreza Turbo MY99 off Tesco this month for 2k with 4 years NCB and I have also held my license for 5 years.

Try it and see what you get online, but it sounds costly.

BTW... without NCB it is gonna really (and I mean really) hurt. Budget £2500 in my opinion and at least you'll be pleased if it comes in lower.

Question

Aust H, do you get a substantial discount or have you just found a very good insurer?
That sound too good to be true!

Only that cheap because I work for an Insuarnce Broker (no commission to pay!!!), so yes it is a one off. I knbow it may of been said before but look at the following things when getting a quote: -

1) What excess could you afford in the event of an accident, the higher the excess the lower the premium!!

2) Try getting quotes that involves the least amount of 'human work'. Example, get quotes from the Internet. This reduces Insurers costs and thus reduces premiums.

3) It may be worth speaking to a broker - they are able to approach markets you cant. You dont have to accept their quote so give it a go. They will have to take commission but even with this it could be cheaper.

I know we all moan about Insurance costs but remember Insurers have to make money. Motor Insurance currently runs at over 150% loss ratio, this mean that for every £1 the insurer get they have to pay out £1.50!!.
