Default Renewal due but changing cars

I'm not sure how to do this but my renewal came through (esure) last week saying it's due 17th Nov.
The problem i have is i'm having a new car delivered on 30th Oct so i was thinking of just getting a new policy for the new car and letting the old 1 lapse - can i do this?
I understand i wont get the extra years ncb (i have 12 already) but if i take out a new policy and they ask for proof of ncb they'll see it's still in use for another 2 weeks - will this be a problem?

I know i can swap my existing policy over for the remaining 2 weeks but it'll cost more in the end

Any ideas?

well they charge £26 just for the paperwork then whatever extra for the policy

The new car is only £260 for the year

Is it possible to expire the policy early so i can use the ncb for a new policy?

You can cancel a policy at any time. If you are fully paid up your current insurer are unlikely to give any refund for the last month, so you'll loose that.

Really depends how much that last month is worth.

I know the last time i tried to cancel a policy which had been paid in full i was told there would be a £70 charge - i refused to pay and they said they would pass the charge on to a debt recovery agency, i just let it carry on running (wasn't esure)

I'll give them a call tommorow if i find out the new reg number

Thanks Moley
