Default Looking for a miracle with my insurance

Hi all! Sorry this is my first post and I didn't even introduced myself but I found this website while I was looking for my dream car..the subaru impreza.

I finally found one yesterday! I went to see it and everything was perfect. Then I started to look for an insurance for the future member of the family...and I only found problems

Here is the thing, I am an International Student full time (mature, 26) and I haven“t been the owner/driver of any UK vehicle.
I have a job very I don“t even have a contract and I get paid in cash so...I guess I doesn“t count as a job

I do have 6 years of no claim bonus but it is with a non UK company...

So yesterday I was the so so happy and today quite frustated... I wasn“t expecting any quote cheaper than 800-1000 but most of the ones I got are around 3000! And the car would cost me 3500 so...

So my question is if someone could help me out here? This is my last hope I won“t give up until I try every single chance..

Looking forward to hearing from you guys
Please come with good news

Cheers

Have you actually phones round. Or just online. A phone call makes a world of difference.
Have you tried any specialist companies? Like Keith micheals, greenlight, Sky or A plan?

Personally I think your circumstances are not gunna help. How much driving experience have you got in the UK and more to the point which most will ask is have you had any experience of turbo/performance cars?

You are not going to get cheap insurance with 0 ncd in uk.
Either pay up or look at a smaller engined car if you can't afford it.

I just called AdrianFlux and the quote was around 4000. Sky just cannot offer me an insurance as I did not own any UK car

Same with privilege and I had no time yet to phone many company

While I was typing A plan just called me back and the problem seems to be that I don“t have UK driving license for 2 years. I forgot to mention that I have the Full EU driving license.

I guess getting an insurance for a performance car being this my first vehicle in the UK is going to be impossible

I didn“t want to hear that but it is what I“ll have to do...

Anyway, I got from my insurance company a letter proving I have 6 years no claim bonus so do you know any company which could accept this?

Cheers

No driving experiencie with a UK car. Just a couple of times I rent a car.... so no
I have been driving a left hand side car so I don“t think this is helping either...covered by a non UK policy...

I have 6 years experience in a golf mk4 gti. Remapped and a few more things so it was running bou 230 bhp but I was also a non uk car...

Anyone who knows elephant/diamond/admiral?

I just got a few quotes online and I am waiting for a call back...They are asking me around 1800...it is 50% of the car“s value lol but I guess if they accept me this is what I am taking...

Hopefully in a year I could get a cheaper insurance!

I asking like in a hurry (sorry for this) as the impreza I saw is in a very good condition from my point of view and I have been looking for a subaru more than 1 and a half month....and when I finally found it the insurance problem arised (my fault for not calling and just trust the online quotes)

So I don“t want this baby to let go... I want her for me

Cheers

Might be a long shot but maybe someone like Allianz who's business is international?

You won't get a decent qoute with next to no experience mate. And the fact your an un employed student doesn't help either...

Sorry bud but I think it might be time for a re think of car choice.

you don't know how good an insurance company is till you have to make a claim. They're all big names.

Have you got a link for the car?

I know...I just had a look on the internet and I saw many subaru“s quite cheap compared to my country...

So I got so excited and really happy I could be an impreza owner...but yeah after this I just have a small hope on Elephant...

I am right now on their website and they offer me a full comp cover for 10 months (yes, 10 months) for "just" 1550!!!!

Please tell me you heard positive comments from this company?

cheers

I know a few people insured with elephant with other cars in the past and no negativity.

It's acceptable if you can afford it.
Given your circumstances that's not bad.

We (Keith Michaels) may have a company who would quote.

0208 6427868 and ask for Gary Moulson. £1500 sounds cheap though based on your circumstances

Yeahhhhh!!!! good to hear that

I“ll try to talk directly to them and let's see if I finally get the baby

Just to say...I put 700 voluntary excess... I don“t know if it is too much but I only want to drive completely legal.

If I have the bad luck of crashing the car and I need to pay too much money I“ll sell the car a spares but I have never been in a crash in 7 years!

Cheers!

They call it bonus/boost policy or something like that. It means you only get a policy ofr 10 months (then I guess you can renew it as normal) and you gain 1 year no bonus claim (in my circumstances quite good huh?) and yeah as I told before I will only get a valid policy for 10 months

Cheers

The issue with that is that when you ring around in 10 months time not all insurers will accept that as a years NCB, so you'll still have 0 years. (Some will, some won't)

hmmm thanks for the information! Well, I guess at least they will accept it as they are offering it... so maybe this is the only way I can afford the insurance plus the car at the moment.

Cheers

Hey guys!
The 1550£ quote wasn't that cheap at the end lol

The cheapest insurance I found is Bewiser which is slightly above 3000£

I guess this is gonna be my best offer and at least they offer the possibility of paying monthly.

I just got I final question... Any guesses of how much could it be reduced the next year when 1 year NCB? Because if it won't go down maybe I have to think about buying another car I do want the subaru :-)

I can pay for 1 year 3000 but not the next year because it won't be worth for me having my dream car when I have to pay every year the value of the car :-(

Cheers!

So what was the catch for the £1550 quote then?
