If this helps anone considering insurance renewal, I have been with Churchill for two ears and had my Turbo MY97 covered with four declared mods for £516 premium, including protected NCB and legal assistance.

I recently had a car-jacking claim and they made a reasonable settlement within 17 days. They were great throughout.

I have just got a quote from Churchill which was very competitive but they stated that they would not allow any mods at all, this means that i would have to go back to a std exhaust.

I then asked that if i were to change to a new WRX (currently run MY98)how much would my premium increase, it nearly doubled. I then asked about a price for an STI Type UK, apparently they cannot insure these as they are imports (someone better tell Subaru UK).

I was with Churchill year before last and left because of a massive increase in premium. The new quote they have given me is over £200 less than last years renewal.

I think it all depends in what mood they are in at the time as with most insurance companies.

You are probably right...it seems to vary from person to person.

It could also depend on age, eg I am an old git 52, which may make a difference

Stratman,

I am not quite as old as you, a very youthfull 40, but after phoning around I feel that i may have been a bit harsh on Churchill as the company i was going to unsure with has also quoted double the premium if I upgrade to a new WRX.

I cannot believe that at 40 years old with full NCB and a measly 3 points i am being quoted in excess of £1200 to insure a WRX.

If anybody out there has experienced the same problems let me know which insurance you used so I can try them.

I think they must be trying to charge me for all the lost production they will experience due to the World Cup.
