I have the pioneer DEH-P8400MP (MCS direct have it for £392 - http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk) in my STi. Sounds great, plays MP3 and WMA, and looks really good in the car. Has a DAB control as well if you want to upgrade to that in the future....

Very easy to get the old one out. All you need to do is remove the front trim, unscrew a few screws and the whole thing comes out. Get a pocket (either from subaru or from autoleads), attach the new radio and the pocket to the cage from the old radio and slot it back in. Easy
Thought about an m-station, but I couldn't see anywhere to put the control panel in the my02 without mangling the dash, and anyway I didn't think the display looked very good
. Also, don't you still need a head unit with an aux input to run the m-station through (I don't think you can use it with the standard double-din - although I may be wrong).
Iain.

Iain,
I like the look of the 8400, did you fit the head unit yourself?
Does the power connector etc from the std head unit just swap over? (excuse me for being an ICE novice
)
Is that £392 price inclusive of VAT?
Adam, you say you got the unit for £300. Can you say where from as I cant find it at this price anywhere.
If I can get one of these at a good price, my mstation will be up for sale.
Cheers

The Mstation may be bulky but you can hide it away and theres no arguing with 10 gig of disk scpace
am tempted to break the case open on mine and sink the lcd in the dash somewhere.
I liked the head unit with a built in 10gig laptop drive on the mcs site, but not the £1400 price tag!!

You could have something in the Kenwood range for that money, and quite a few on here have the 6090 and rate it. A friend has one and, for the money, it's a steal.
I think it may have been replaced in the new range, too.
Other alternative is from 12lee, with the Dension player that's a lot like an m-station but next week should interface through to existing head units through their changer bus. see http://www.ihavetohave.it for more info. (Good grief, I sound like an ad for this thing - just interested to see a banner advertiser do well!)

Mark,
Fitting the 8400 is very easy, (only took about 10 minutes)however you do need an ISO converter lead because the 02 scoob hasn't got a standard iso connection (they cost about £10). Yes that price was fully inc btw...
I looked at the Kenwoods, but thought they looked cheap in the flesh, (although they did sound ok). The brushed metal look of the Pioneer suits my STi much better (IMHO)
