Default Sub/Amp issue

Hey guys

I have fitted a new amp/sub as my old one seemed faulty.

It used to buzz.

My new one is doing the same.

I have bought new RCA phono cable but this has no fixed the issue and tried a new Earth cable too and tried various different earth points on the car.

Here is a video of my car.

This is what my car is doing when my H.U. is muted. (My old amp/sub did exactly the same) This also does the same when audio is playing.,

I have used a phono to 3.5mm jack and plugged in my mobile phone the buzzing does not occur at all.

If I unplug the RCA cable completely from the amp the buzzing does not occur.

Here is a video showing what happens if I plug/unplug my RCA cable from my headunit - not the H.U. is muted.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Think you need a choke inline.
Choke is the filter that removes electrical noises created by alt ac etc

What is that? Easy to fit? Cost?

Also would the noise from the alternator cause the issue if the engine was off, but the ignition on to provide headunit and amp power?

If the noise is there with engine off i would say a headunit fault.
Try swapping head unit with a friend to eliminate hu as cause.

Dunno, why I posted that lol.

I dont know anyone who would be willing to rip their head unit out for me to test.

Maybe I should buy a new head unit and DSR it if the problem is not fixed with a new H.U.

Thanks for the offer anyway. I appreciate it

For daily use? I will only have the low sub working then, no front audio.

Unless I have totally misunderstood you?

Sounds like a ground loop caused by the RCA's.

If you ground the plug of the RCA (use a section of wire to ground the OUTSIDE of the plug, or that outer metal ring to a good earth, not the inner spike of the RCA plug) does the buzzing stop then?

Pioneers are reknowned for having "weak" ground loop fuses. If you fail to ground the headunit properly, (which is all too easily done, I've done it myself through plugging things in in the wrong order before now) then the unit grounds through the RCA's, and blows the Head unit ground protection fuses. This then leaves the head unit and the RCA's at a different potential, giving you noise.

Solutions? Ground the RCa's, and star ground the whole system, use some speaker cable to join the amp grounding point, the head unit grounding point, and the RCA ground along with any accessories ground too so that everything operates on the same ground potential.

Should work.

if it's what's refered to as "alternater whine" then the noise would change pitch and amplitude as you accelerate. if you have the intereference when the ignition is off then it's going to be a head unit issue but as mentioned above is it's only when the car is running then it's a ground issue. make sure your rca's are not running along side the power cable for the amp. then make sure you have good grounds and keep them as short as possible. a good tip for the ground in the boot is to go for a good sturdy point, use a wire brush and remove all the paint from the point you want to use. once you've connected your ground point cover the area with primer or even vaseline to protect the metal from rust.

By all means check the above but as your unit is one of the Pioneers that is susceptible to destroying its internal earth track then I think it could be your unit that is shot
