just earth it and it should work. It doesn't need power just an earth - done through the handbrake so the screen works when parked. If you do wire up another way to the handbrake and the feds catch you with a screen on when driving it's a big hit for points and a fine as i do believe they class it as 'driving without due care and attention!'

Satnav shouldn't be problem even if it's wired up correctly. It's there to guide you after all.
Try it wired up correctly (it's easy to connect the wire to the handbrake plug), the satnav should work, it'll just stop DVD's playing when your on the move.
I've been sat waiting on my son at his school and had a sheriff check the handbrake out... as soon as it's dropped the screen goes blank with a legal warning. So i was ok but i do know loads of guys who don't wire them in like that.
