Default Bugeye dvd player problem

Hi Ive just upgraded all my speakers to alpines and now need to finish the job with a double din dvd head unit. I currently just have the terrible stock double din head unit that comes with a bugeye. Its occured to me after some measurements and investigation of the space for the head unit that its not going to be very simple. Facia panel seems to be too small for any dvd faces ive seen on the market and behind all this the standard head unit is merely screwed in which obviously would not match up if installing an aftermarket unit. If anybody has any experience of ovrcoming thse problems with a bugeye impreza id very much like to hear how you conquered these problems. Regards Alex

If I remeber correctly when I replaced the OE headunit in my bugeye the brackets are screwed to the headunit and just need swapping over. I just fitted a CD player rather than a DVD player.

I fitted a double din dvd player in mine and yeah the opening on the surround wasn't big enough but all i had to do was remove the plastic trim that goes around the front edge of the head unit.

Same as above, you may need to drill extra holes in the brackets to get the H/U eaxctly flush.
