Default recommendations on speakers please

I have bought a VW transporter which I have had the inside converted , boarded and carpeted , I have fitted a Pioneer AVIC F20BT head unit , I want to fit some good door speakers , and a sub and amp ,
I'm not looking for competition spec stuff that will bounce your intestines around , but I do like my music loud and clear

Anyone recommend a good setup please

Cheers Ian

I've been researching Ian, have a look at these brands for speakers, Focal and Hertz they've been getting good reviews.

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/

This place has lots of gear at good prices.

Ian: do what you would if you were buying speakers for the home: LISTEN to some!

When I bought, I took advice, then went to Halfords and got my youngest, who you met, to help me do a "blind test".

I ended up with Sony, front and rear, because I LIKED the sound.

NEVER buy speakers just on someone's recommendation: what sounds great to one man could sound cr@p to another.

whats your budget?

im assuming it needs to sound good, and ideally be compact? if you give us a price, we can get the ball rolling.

i would try and listen to a set up in someones car, as its never going to sound the same in a demo wall in a shop when installed in a car. the most popular and value for money brand is hertz, but all depends on your personal preferance and brand loyality.

if you run some 6.5 comps off an amp, they will blow you away.

Hi
Thanks for the info , I don't have a budget as such , I spent a pretty packet on this van so won't be scrimping on speakers lol , I want to fit some good speakers , sub and whatever amps needed , after doing some searching over the weekend it does seem that Focal or Hertz are the ones to go for.

I have gone from this

To this !!

I have found a company in Cardiff that specialise in custom build so will speak to them this morning , they deal with Focal and Hertz

Cheers Ian

I had Hertz in my BMW, they were very good (in my opinion obviously) Alas I'm not too clued up on audio.

I've got some expensive ones (going by the receipt I have) in the RB5 and they sound awesome, absolutely no clue what they are though!

Thanks for the advice , I have gone for Focal K2's up front , Focal 6x9's in the back , Focal sub and a JL 5 way Amp , Dropping the van off at www.audioconcepts.co.uk in Cardiff this morning to have it all fitted , i'll probably get them to supply and fit a digital TV tuner while they are doing it
I'll let you know how I get on

Cheers Ian

Love the van Ian, make sure you show us the install once it's done, perhaps ask the installers to take a series of photos during the build? I'd like to see how the pro's do it.

Its all finished and sounds real good !

Rear door speakers

Rear sub

Nothing to see on the front speakers as they are behind the door cards , I also had them install a TV tuner while they had the dash apart

All in all a good job
