Need to lose the Sub but keep some bass!!!
I am expecting my first child in December so am going to need all the space in my boot so the sub will probably have to go.
I want to keep some bass in the car to keep a nice sound balance but what are my options, I did think about an under seat sub but really too keen on that idea.
I also thought about getting some 6x9s and putting them in the rear shelf but I have been lead to believe that it will effect the structure of the car by cutting bigger holes in the metal of the shelf
Could a rear strut brace counter act this effect?
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.
Thanks in advance

got one of these fitted.

small and amazing bass. just fits in the corner of the boot and you can still get a pushchair and the weekly shop in the boot. 6x9 will give you extra sound but now where near the bass of a sub.

really good price at the moment considering it has a built in amp. i paid over £200 for mine.

Try the pioneer
Pioneer TS-WX77A bass tube/box for the boot - mounts vertically on the back of the back seats and is only 8 cm thick - have just fitted one in my hawkeye wagon and am very impressed. Based on a 'Horn' enclosure design like Bose do for their Wave systems.
I did not like the look of the underseat jobbies as most of them are only 50Hz plus fequency range - the pioneer gets down to 22Hz so nice and low - has a little controller as well to adjust frequency range and power/volume.
If yopu mount it flat on the floor you can load stuff on top of it no problem as the rigid enclosure is designed for this.
Not the cheapest amped sub but great value for what you get - decent bass plus leaves most of the boot free!

I was thinking of doing the same, cos there looks like there is almost an 6x9 appature under there, but there's a black box mounted in the right hole? anyone know what it is?

Swing by mine when you get a chance, I have some 6x9s in the rear shelf, didn't cut too much away as I made spacers to raise them, and padded the shelf with some foam - sounds sweet as with some upgraded components at the front too

cheers, that would be spot on. has your rear shelf been recovered, it looks a bitch to take out, or did you just screw the mdf spacers from below. want to keep it as dicreet as possible so not keen on cutting out trim and fitting covers
